The Problem:
The demand for ear and hearing healthcare services is growing rapidly due to an ever-increasing ageing population, exposure to loud noises such as music and machinery, the increased use of headphones, and even the way we clear our ears using cotton ear buds has an adverse effect to our daily lives.
The current patient pathway to ear and hearing healthcare can be both disjointed and relatively inaccessible. Many patients move from appointment to appointment, spread over several weeks, if not months. The average waiting time for patients to receive treatment was 12-16 weeks (pre-Covid), this has now grown substantially. Not only that, but most GPs have also stopped offering wax removal as a service, which has a significant impact on access and wellbeing.
Delivering ear and hearing healthcare services within communities makes care more accessible for all and helps to reduce the outpatient burden on secondary settings, in line with the “NHS Long Term Plan.” For younger people, hearing loss can affect their education and social life. For older people, it can lead to social isolation, dementia and an increased risk of falls.
The Solution:
At Calder Ear Clinic, we use the award-winning Tympa system, which is the world’s first all-in-one ear and hearing healthcare assessment device. It brings together three different diagnostic and treatment systems into one hand-held portable system. This allows your clinician to perform; high-definition digital otoscopy (to capture HD image and video), microsuction wax removal (the industry gold standard), and carry out a hearing screening, all in a single 30-minute appointment.
How are images stored?
All images and video are stored in our secure cloud, making it easy to keep track of your ear and hearing health record. This can be quickly and easily shared with ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeons, audiologists or GPs, should you need onward specialist treatment.
Remote Review
Our “Remote Review” feature allows access to remote advice and guidance from Audiologists and ENT specialist surgeons, if a second opinion is required.

Outstanding service, I called on Sunday teatime for an urgent appointment because I was in so much discomfort and within 2 hours my ears had been totally unblocked. The gentleman is extremely professional, he came to my home which was also amazing because I would not have liked to drive because I felt disoriented. He also unblocked my friends ear who didn’t even know her ear was blocked. A micro-suction system is used which is extremely efficient and clean. Thank you.
I rang up at 8am and came out straight away, and the price was spot on. Really would recommend for anyone having problems with their ears. Feeling a lot better now, couldn’t recommend enough. 👍🏼
brilliant service, came out to us on short notice and after hours to unblock my partner's ears, he was so patient even with the wax being hard to remove, a lot of places would have probably given up but he managed to remove 75% of the hard wax from my partner's ears, which has restored his hearing back to normal. cant thank this guy enough!
Brilliant service! I called in the morning and he came out to see me that afternoon. I hadn't been able to hear anything out of my right ear for a couple of weeks and he sorted it out within a few minutes.
